Google Workspace Business Plus is increasing the pricing for their services to $18 on December 10, 2022.
This morning I received an email from Google that said that the pricing for Google Workspace Business Plus price change is coming soon.
So I logged into my account to see what they were going to charge our web design business now.
Keep in mind that in April 2, 2019, raised their pricing of G Suite Basic Edition from $5 USD per user/month to $6 USD per user/month.
My thought was that they were going to be doing something similarly and I was expecting another $1 increase.
Was I right?
Oh, no!
They are increasing their pricing from $6 USD per user/month to $9 USD per user/month on Feb 10, 2022 and then doing another increase on Dec 10, 2022 to $18 USD per user/month!
Yes, you read that correctly; a 300% price increase in 12 months.
After I put my eyes back in their sockets from bugging out of my head, I had to reread it to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind.
Nope.
Since I’m the analytical business owner type, I figured there had to be some significant reasoning or benefits to their pillaging price gouging.
And this is what they said:

Huh… this was not what I was thinking!
I was thinking more along the lines of Google providing a personal assistant (PA) to help me manage my email and setup task reminders along with calendar management. Personalized phone calls to discuss my meeting and schedule. All for $18 USD per user / month, that would seem fair.
But, nope, this is indeed the pillaging that I thought it was.
I wish I could in crease my pricing 300% over the next 12 months.
What in the world is going on Google? This is absolutely unacceptable!
I’m curious what the fallout is going to be over the next 10 months?
There is no way that my company will be paying $18 for email, (EMAIL!!!!!) month.

Yes,
With my account, Google automatically upgraded my business account to their most expensive subscription package. I had to go into admin.google.com, Click on Billing -> Subscriptions. Click on my subscription and then click on Upgrade or Downgrade.
From there I can switch my account type. It was easy to switch, however it’s ridiculous that my business was automatically upgraded.
